Guest blog: Sarah Davis, illustrator

We're gearing up for a night of popping corks, publishers and portfolios!
The 2012 SCBWI Conference is going to start in full party mode with a huge showcase of the work of more than 40 illustrators who have submitted their portfolios from all over Australia and New Zealand.

Here we feature three of the illustrators and their works: Girl in swing - Alison Mutton / Tree house - Laura Wood / Girl Feeding ducks - Barbara Nye.

You can have a sneak peek at everyone who's exhibiting on the showcase website: http://www.scbwiausnz.squarespace.com
Alison Mutton
The event begins with a private viewing for invited publishers, art directors, designers and editors, and with the impressive group of artists we've gathered together, they're almost certain to discover some new talent. The private viewing is followed by a launch of Catriona Hoy's "the Little Dinosaur", and then the exhibition will be opened for all delegates to come marvel at the talent of the SCBWI illustrators.
Laura Wood
We're hoping that many publishers will be keen to stick around for champagne and the conference cocktail dinner party, and we can all look forward to a heady combination of great artwork, great food, and great company.

Barbara Nye
We're really excited about the showcase - it's such a huge event at the SCBWI NY and LA conferences, but this is the first time we've tried something similar in good old Sydney, so we're hoping it's a big success and lots of fun for everyone who's attending or taking part.

We'd love to hear what you think of the idea... Please do leave us a comment below.
